Enterprise Video Platform Deployed to Facilitate Peer-to-Peer Learning and Communication
San Mateo, Calif., October 21, 2008 – Veodia™, an agile enterprise video platform that enhances daily communication, today announced that Sun Microsystems has signed a contract to use Veodia across the company to promote their informal learning initiatives through the Sun Learning eXchange. Sun employees will use Veodia to record and share videos of critical information needed to improve knowledge transfer and collaboration, allowing them access to the right information at the right time.
Effective and sustainable knowledge transfer is crucial to the success of organizations; however, this process is also increasingly complex in today's global environment. According to a recent report from The Conference Board, organizations must take into account cross-generational learning styles and adapt how knowledge is conveyed to make the difference between harvesting knowledge and actually using the collected knowledge.
"Corporations today are experiencing a paradigm shift driven by changing workforce demographics, an exponential increase of information and significant advancements in technologies. At Sun, we are meeting this shift head on by adopting disruptive technology tools such as Veodia to break communication and training barriers and keep our organization at the leading edge," said Charles Beckham, CTO of Sun Learning Services. "Video is key to accomplishing the strategic objectives of Sun Learning Services because ultimately people learn best from other people. Veodia has given us a robust cloud-based video capability that empowers Sun employees to share expertise and insight—quickly, easily and with the highest quality—and to contribute at higher levels than was possible before."
Veodia is a platform-as-a-service that enables organizations to create and share high quality video online and through mobile devices. Built upon the MPEG-4/h.264 standard, the service produces television quality video that is easy for everyone within an organization to use. The Veodia platform is designed with the enterprise requirements in mind, providing a reliable, secure and scalable service that can be integrated into a variety of business processes and IT environments.
"Sun Learning eXchange is a great example of how innovative firms can gain a competitive advantage by leveraging their greatest assets—their people," said Guillaume Cohen, founder and CEO of Veodia. "Video enables people to present information with context, body language and emotion in a way that no other medium can. Our cutting-edge technology allows everyone in Sun's organization—employees, partners and communities—to create and consume high quality video for more effective knowledge sharing, collaboration and communication."
Veodia services were deployed to Sun employees globally via Sun Learning eXchange on September 22, 2008. View the video testimonial from Sun Microsystems at www.veodia.com.
